Public consultation - Call for "Restoration of wetlands and peatlands"

 Ministry of Environment, Waters and Forests, Programme Operator for the EEA Environment Programme 2014-2021 launches in consultation for 1 month, the Applicant's Guide and the annexes related to the Call - "Restoration of wetlands and peatlands", available here, will it be later completed basis for public consultations and open for implementation in the next period.

Available budget: 3,550,000 euro (includes - 85% grant +15% co-financing) 

The call is addressed to both public and private environment, including NGOs in Romania and aims to encourage bilateral cooperation between entities in Romania and those in Donor States in selected projects.

It is estimated the financing of a maximum of 4 projects that will follow intervention and restoration activities of the 45 degraded areas on the Romanian territory that were identified based on the previous project/study financed by EEA grants 2009-2014 and are grouped on four regions, respectively North-East Region 1, North-East Region 2 (Suceava and Botosani), Center Region (Covasna and Harghita), and North-West Region (Bihor, Maramures, Bistrita-Nasaud, Salaj, Mures).

The total area to be restored amounts to 11.22 km2.

The main interventions will consist in the restoration and long-term maintenance of these ecosystems, by closing drainage channels, restoration, maintaining their water regime, combating invasive plant species, restoring vegetation by replanting, flood control, reducing fire risk, conserving resources, water, etc.
