Goods and mortals from ancient Egypt!

At the beginning of the 20th century the Transylvanian Museum in Cluj received donations that contributed to the creation of an important Egyptian collection. Subsequently, it entered the administration of the National History Museum of Transylvania.

Being objects that belong to the universal heritage, the promoter aimed to preserve, restore, valorize, and integrate them into the cultural circuit through permanent or temporary exhibitions, in order to educate and delight the public.

At the Transylvanian History Museum, researchers have carried out hard and meticulous work and have managed to bring to the public`s attention valuable artefacts belonging to ancient Egypt.

The restoration and conservation of the Egyptian collection, the spectacular results obtained were possible with the support of the EEA Grants.

The general objective of the project was to improve the cultural management of the institution by implementing a project with international collaboration, resulting in an exhibition.

Another specific objective achieved was the improvement of some museographers, restorers, conservators through the collaboration with specialists from the Museum of Fine Arts and the Faculty of Fine Arts in Budapest.

Also among the specific objectives was the improvement of the museum-public relationship, its interest being stimulated beyond the exhibition itself, by organizing interactive activities for the young public, composed especially of students, but also cultural events addressed to an informed public made up of specialists.
