With an investment of €3.8 million, of which €1.7 million was a grant offered under the RO Energy programme funded through EEA Grants, the Municipality of Oradea has put into operation a Geothermal Thermal Station that will benefit 5,000 residents of the Ceyrat and Blajovici – O. Goga neighborhoods (1,600 apartments) and the new Oradea Arena multi-purpose hall.
The project`s energy efficiency element is provided by the use of heat pumps, which allow for the recovery of additional heat from geothermal water.
The aim of the investment is to increase the use of local geothermal renewable energy resources for the preparation of thermal heating and domestic hot water, as well as to create new thermal energy production capacities within the centralized district heating system, SACET Oradea.
