The General Director of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna congratulated Romania for the Valahia 2023 exercise and stated that we are prepared to handle the most complex exercises!
Teams from Romania, Norway, France, the USA, Israel, Lithuania, Bulgaria, Hungary, and the IAEA collaborated and acted based on a scenario involving a heavy water leak at the Cernavodă Nuclear Power Plant.
With nearly 5 million euros support from the Norway Grants, a team from the National Commission for Nuclear Activities Control, together with partners from the Norwegian Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority (DSA) and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna, addressed the challenges of increasing disaster resilience and responsiveness to nuclear and radiological events.
