Cervical cancer can be prevented through testing and vaccination!

The fight against cervical cancer has been joined by the "Prof. Dr. Ion Chiricuță" Oncology Institute in Cluj-Napoca (IOCN).

CEDICROM 2 - Increasing the capacity of the Romanian health sector to implement organized cancer screening programs appropriate for effective early detection interventions.

With funding of nearly 2 million euros, IOCN and its Norwegian partner Oslo Universitetssykehus HF/KREFTEREGISTERET aim to improve the provision of integrated medical services related to cervical cancer prevention among disadvantaged populations.

  • 7,041 HPV tests performed, 1245 women were vaccinated, and 1546 women were treated or monitored after a positive test;
  • Over 30.000 women were informed in the counties of Arad, Constanța, Dolj, Gorj, Timiș, Tulcea, Hunedoara;

Follow-up was conducted for women tested in the previous project.
