Key to the Future – Social Inclusion in Budila

Education for Children, Education for the Future!
Nearly 1 million euros from the EEA Grants have made it possible to implement a much-needed project for the Budila community by facilitating access to education and ensuring the best possible conditions for children in the educational process.

The partnership between the Budila Municipality and the Support and Development Association from Brașov implemented the project Key to the Future – Social Inclusion in Budila Municipality and succeeded in providing integrated services for vulnerable families and developing the individual capacities of their members.

What are the partnership`s achievements?

• A newly built extended program kindergarten with 5 classrooms, 2 dining rooms, a fully equipped kitchen, a medical office, a dental office, changing rooms, and a playground;
• A parental education program, a school dropout prevention program, an employment program, and an anti-discrimination campaign were conducted;
• 1335 individuals and families of vulnerable Roma ethnicity (including 95 preschool children and 770 children and young people aged 6 to 17) and 565 members of the majority community participated in the activities.

The end of the project actually marks the beginning of a new chapter for the community with the solutions offered: in the short term, facilitating access to health, employment, and educational services to increase social inclusion and empowerment of the Roma in Budila Municipality, Brașov, and in the medium and long term, contributing to reducing the disparities between the vulnerable Roma population and the majority population.
