The objective “Biodiversity conservation, ecotourism and ecologic education in the Bison Land” consists of contributing to the sustainable development and of strengthening civil society development in the micro-region “Bison Land”, through public participation and by valuing the bison reintroduction programme in the natural environment. The activities related to the improvement of the preservation of the species were directly related to environment protection. The main results associated to these activities are: 2 bison released with GPS collars, 2 training sessions on the use of GPS collars and defining the management measures for the special preservation area. The 2 training sessions were organized by the Norwegian partner, Norwegian Institute for Nature Research. The activities associated to ecotourism in the “Bison County” and to ecologic education contributed to the economic and social components of the sustainable development concept.

The project entitled “Biodiversity conservation, ecotourism and ecologic education in the Bison Land” was financed under the Programme RO09 – “Funds for Non-Governmental Organizations”, EEA and Norwegian Grants 2009-2014.
