An Inclusive School for Minorities!

An exemplary practice is demonstrated by the project An Inclusive School for Us! implemented by the ARES EL Association together with 5 school units in Prahova County.
With the support of the EEA Grants, provided through the Education, Scholarships, Apprenticeships and Youth Entrepreneurship program, the team at ARES EL aimed to ensure the effective social inclusion of Roma children by training teachers, preparing parents, and developing curricula and educational materials.
Results in numbers:
- 72 teachers (distinct individuals) working with Roma children from the 5 school units trained on program-specific topics;
- 120 parents (both Roma and non-Roma) of students participated in awareness activities regarding parental education and non-discrimination;
- 240 children (both Roma and non-Roma) participated in joint extracurricular activities focusing on inclusion and the development of social activities;
- 3 curricula and 3 educational materials related to inclusion and the multicultural environment.

Practically speaking:
- 15% reduction in the percentage of Roma students in the 5 partner units who feel discriminated against;
- 90% increase in the satisfaction rate of children participating in activities related to inclusion and the development of social skills;
- Reduction of discrimination among students and parents, as well as stereotypes, prejudices, and racism in partner schools;
- Reduction of school dropout rates through inclusion and improved academic performance among students.
