Research

The objective of the programme is developing research-based knowledge and enhanced performance of Romanian research internationally, through supporting collaborative research projects between research organizations in Romania and in the Donor States, in the following areas:

  • energy
  • environment
  • health
  • social sciences and humanities, including gender studies and social inclusion studies
  • information and communication technology
  • biotechnology

47,058,824 EUR (40,000,000 EUR EEA and Norway Grants and 7,058,824 EUR contribution of the national budget)

Programme management

The programme is managed by the Executive Agency for Higher Education, Research, Development and Innovation (UEFISCDI), as Programme Operator, in partnership with Research Council of Norway and Icelandic Centre for Research.

Projects selected under the calls for projects, including the small grants scheme, organized by the Programme Operator in 2018-2019 will be funded.

Calls for projects

EEA Financial Mechanism research projects (16,312,500 EUR)

Call for collaborative research projects, submitted in partnership by entities in Romania and entities in Iceland, Liechtenstein or Norway, in the areas covered by the programme.

Norwegian Financial Mechanism research projects (24,687,500 EUR)

Call for collaborative research projects, submitted in partnership by entities in Romania and entities in Norway, in the areas covered by the programme.

Small Grants Scheme (2,500,000 EUR) (2 calls)

Call of projects for research visits of researchers / research organizations, improvement of applications, allowing for their re-submission. This is to be implemented through study visits with the relevant ERC beneficiaries in Norway.
