Botoșani – an example of good practice!
With a sum of over 9.7 million RON provided by the EEA Grants under the RO Environment Programme, the Municipality of Botoșani has closed the temporary waste storage facility located in the southeastern part of Botoșani, about 100 meters from the national road DN 29D Botoșani – Trușești – Ștefănești.

EEA grants support closure of municipal landfills
With an amount of over 9.3 million RON provided by the EEA Grants under the RO Environment Programme, the Fălticeni UAT has closed the temporary waste storage landfill on the platform of Fălticeni, Suceava County.

We are happy to share the success story behind the closure of the temporary waste landfill in Suceava. How did it all begin? Between 2014 and 2019, over 420,000 cubic meters of waste from Suceava were deposited in Ipotești, a landfill located 2 km from the city and 250 meters from the Suceava River.

With the help of EEA Grants, a team from the Research and Development Institute for Game Management and Mountain Resources in Miercurea-Ciuc, together with their Norwegian partner from NIBIO (Norwegian Institute of Bioeconomy Research), have ecologically restored several peat bogs and wetlands in the central part of the country.
The black stork (Ciconia nigra)
We have news of interest for both nature lovers and those who seek rare and precious moments when rare species make their appearance on Romanian territory! The good news is especially directed towards bird enthusiasts! A camera installed in the Molhașu Călățele bog (Cluj-Napoca county) has captured footage of a black stork! Scientifically named Ciconia nigra, this species is very rare in Romania, only present during the breeding seasons.
