Almost three million lei for disadvantaged communities in Bacău County from EEA Grants

The Bacău branch of the National Red Cross Society, together with the Municipality of Blăgești, the Municipality of Comănești and the European Roma Association for Progress and Intercultural Promotion, in collaboration with the County Council and the Prefect`s Institution of Bacău County, have laid the foundations for this collective effort, which aimed to reduce poverty and include Roma people in the community.

With the help of EEA Grants, a team from the Research and Development Institute for Game Management and Mountain Resources in Miercurea-Ciuc, together with their Norwegian partner from NIBIO (Norwegian Institute of Bioeconomy Research), have ecologically restored several peat bogs and wetlands in the central part of the country.

The black stork (Ciconia nigra)

We have news of interest for both nature lovers and those who seek rare and precious moments when rare species make their appearance on Romanian territory! The good news is especially directed towards bird enthusiasts! A camera installed in the Molhașu Călățele bog (Cluj-Napoca county) has captured footage of a black stork! Scientifically named Ciconia nigra, this species is very rare in Romania, only present during the breeding seasons.

An Inclusive School for Minorities!

With the support of the EEA Grants, provided through the Education, Scholarships, Apprenticeships and Youth Entrepreneurship program, the team at ARES EL aimed to ensure the effective social inclusion of Roma children by training teachers, preparing parents, and developing curricula and educational materials.

Support for Renewable Energy!

On the path to green, renewable energy, Apulum, one of the largest ceramics producers in Romania, has stepped forward by deciding to install a photovoltaic system at their factory. 1831 bifacial photovoltaic panels, which allow for up to 30% higher energy production, were installed as part of a project co-financed through the EEA & Norway Grants.
